GET TO KNOW ME

Hello and its really very nice to meet you, I am Sachin Dennis Dsouza, A dedicated and a very passionate abstract painter based in Bengaluru, India. Welcome to Absolute Abstracts Lounge, my creative world where I enjoy creating originals and commissioned abstract work of art for everyone across the globe passionately crafted at my very own private home studio with all the never ending passion that I have and also as much as it takes. I’d like to thank you for contributing your precious time in being a part of my creative world of passion, This was something that I’ve always lived for and dreamt of making it a career and taking my art to the next level.

I appreciate all your love and precious support you’ve extended in helping me live and also fulfill the journey of my passion and turn my big dream into reality which truly means a great deal. I strongly believe in the saying that goes ” if people ain’t laughing at your dreams, then your dreams ain’t big enough ” so believe in yourself, dream big and chase them…

HOW IT ALL STARTED

I’ve always been very fascinated with art as a child, I fondly remember doodling funny faces, making cartoons pictures, drawing sceneries and landscapes. While I spent most of my time outdoors during my childhood playing around with friends and cousins, I used to make paintings for friends and for family and was always involved in art and craft in one way or the other by keeping myself creatively scribbling all day long even during the schooling hours. For that matter I was the first one to help all my buddies and classmates in making them a scientific diagrams or geographical maps, a personal work of art and so on. That’s how art landed up being pleasantly a part of my DNA and to be honest it is an absolute feel good factor when you get to know that some of the artworks I created for my friends and family during my childhood days were still preserved in a safe and sound manner, now that’s what I call nostalgia at its best or an absolute gesture of honor, that felt truly blessed.

So it was time for me take the next step and try to figure out the way forward, I started investing more time and effort in my art whenever my free time allowed me to, especially once I had a dedicated studio space I used to spend long hours experimenting with ideas, and to add more value to my hard work I decided to come up with a brand name of my own. It was a continues thought process which literally took me almost more than 3 months to come up with perfect brand name, once I was completely convinced and happy with my brand name, the next big thing was a logo for my brand. Now that was big task to look into and I could not afford to take a chance in hiring someone to do it for me because I always believed in self help being the best help, I hate the feeling of being dependent on someone else’s ideas and compromising on my expectations. Since this was my dream project, I never wanted to compromise on the quality in any sense, therefore I started working on designing the logo myself. It almost took me around 4 months after scribbling hundreds of rough sketches on how I wanted my logo to look like, i.e. the first two months I only spent on getting the rough sketch of my logo right. Once that was established, I started working on the graphic designing part of it myself, that process was again very time consuming, after millions of trial and error attempts I could finally come up with something that I felt seemed perfect to represent my brand name, that was such a great sense of accomplishment, so moving on to the next step was to learn designing my own website which I had no knowledge whatsoever, I started exploring my options as much possible from google and Youtube videos and started implementing whatever I learnt, I took a systematic approach in learning to design my website, i.e. I made a checklist of how I want my website to look like and then started to learn the fundamentals first and slowly started to focus more on the topics those were more relevant to my requirements, so there’s been a never ending amount of effort that’s gone into all of it and I humbly deserve to take pride and credit for all my hard work and a pat on my back

MY ART SPACE

Initially, I started off with painting in one of the corners of my bedroom, it continued that way for a very long time. Back then I used to only work on smaller canvas probably a size of 18”x 18” at the max with a very limited space to even keep my colours around when I paint. Though I always enjoyed painting on a larger canvas which wasn’t a possibility, slowly our guest room was converted into an art studio since my room couldn’t take it anymore and the place got completely saturated and had no space left whatsoever. However once I shifted to slightly bigger space and a dedicated art studio things got a little better in terms of flexing to work on bigger canvas, I then chose to work on canvas that measured around 24” to 36” overall. I made quite a few paintings of those size and also sold a few, and slowly as I kept on producing more work and stacking all the canvas, soon enough my new studio started to shrink and got smaller again, this time it was a bigger concern because I could not afford to stack more art materials in a cluttered space, I had to look out for a bigger option, so I then started hunting for bigger apartments that could accommodate all of my art supplies including the huge canvas I was planning to start working on, I couldn’t really get lucky with it reason being either bigger space charged very high on rents or I had to literally travel almost 60 kms outskirts everyday to my studio and back home which dint really make sense nor sounded so practical to me in terms of spending so much time travelling all the way,

Therefore I finally preferred investing all that it took to construct a brand new BIGGER dedicated studio right on top of my home that I lived in, a floor above my bedroom. Yuhuuu I was super excited about the new Studio project and within 6 months down the lane my new studio was all set to be inaugurated, special thanks to my folks ( parents ) for extending all the financial support without whom this studio project may not have been a great possibility. I now have a dedicated Studio space of 1000 square feet which is big enough and more than sufficient for me to create and to store my precious original art projects, and for all the fondness that I carry for my Studio space I wanted there to be a co-relation between the brand name and my studio therefore that’s how I decided to call my studio as an ” Absolute Abstracts Lounge ” which is where the brand name was also derived from.

And finally, mission accomplished, and that was such a relief…

WHAT ART MEANS TO ME

Art to me is very sacred and divine. I cannot imagine my life without it, to put that in context it’s my life with a set of multiple emotions that deserves all my respect and dedication. A day spent without art in my opinion is such a waste of breathing oxygen, in other words art to me is a pleasant journey with endless limitations to explore the possibilities beyond the unknown taking your creative appetite to a totally different level. It is a connection and a bonding that will continue all the way till my last breath. I am all about big bold vibrant colours because every colour has a vibe that carries an emotional response and the power to heal, that’s the magical impact art could produce in our lives. I love what I do, and I always do it with complete honesty and passion. I give my best in everything that I engage myself with… I work reasonably very hard because I believe there’s no shortcut to hard work or success and despite of whatever busy schedule that I may have, I ensure to show up in my studio every single day and do what it takes to get there, a consistent daily painting practice with NO EXCUSES whatsoever. I am extremely grateful that I am being able to do what I love doing the most, i.e. abstract art…and I wish to take my art journey to a different level. The effort that’s going into making my dream turn into a reality is truly a grilling process yet totally worthwhile…

STYLE STATEMENT

I enjoy working on a larger canvas and creating many different layers in order to achieve depth. My paintings are an expression of my mind, heart and soul in combination with energy, vibes, spirit and spontaneity. They are filled with a lot of movements, textures, strokes and colours that are full of life and psychologically healing. My abstracts are an extension of my personality demonstrating the gestures of freedom, love and gratitude, basically of who I am as a person. I always have lived my life in my own terms and those traces are evidently depicted through what I wanna express through my paintings that conveys a statement and an attitude towards life. I generally start a painting with an idea in mind and eventually let the painting take a life and a vibe of its own to create an emotional connect with the viewer.  Like they say every painting has a story and so does mine once you are able to connect with it.

I have worked on mediums such as oil, water colours, acrylics and also others to some extent but I personally preferred working on mixed mediums with acrylics the most because of its fast drying time and its ability to adapt quickly to my abstract process which helps me work more constructively on techniques of adding textures, washes and glazes that unveil the layers underneath. I use various tools such as palette knifes, brushes chalk pastels, pen, graphite and a lot more that contributes to my process of making abstracts. I’ve always been inspired and equally curious with using various props and how they interact adding up to my zeal of “ dare to explore “ attitude.

My artworks are hand painted and are 100% original. I generally prefer to work with professional graded colours on gallery standard quality cotton canvas with superior grain texture.

WHAT GOES IN THE PROCESS & MAKING

First and foremost, a lot of hard work goes into the process of making abstracts more than one could even imagine because no matter how easy it may appear to look, there’s a lot of elbow grease approach involved in the making. It’s often easier said than done and majority of times abstract artists have suffered in getting their actual credit that they deserved. But on the contrary, abstract art has also gained its acceptance levels through time across the globe and has made a prominent place in the market reaching out to a millions of audiences around the world making its way as a part of the collectors lifestyle.

I have a very straight forward approach when it comes to my art. I don’t follow a routine as such because I hate them the most. Instead I keep the process of working on art very systematic, I work on both, stretched and un-stretched canvas of artist grade quality grains. At first I start off with priming the canvas with premium grade Gesso, a total of two coats are applied allowing it to dry for 24 hours before the canvas is all set for painting. I use the acrylic colours of premium quality which are rich on pigments and likewise also the other mediums that I use are also of artist grade.

Each painting that I work on has its own pace depending on the level of inspirations, thought flows, creative ideas and the workload that I carry each day.  I do them in a couple of sessions and each of the session containing an ample numbers of dedicated hours to it.

I generally prefer to sign at the bottom right front of the canvas after completion of painting, however it completely depends on the type of surface and the amount of texture that it has in it in order to make the canvas more signature friendly. Also signing at the back of the canvas / painting gives a completely different advantage in terms rotating the painting in 4 different angles or orientations to better suite your perspective as to how you wish to hang them on your beautiful walls.

After I’ve completed the painting, as a post procedural process, I apply two coats of artist grade varnish in order to protect them from extreme weather conditions to give it an additional life span and a more enhanced appearance to the piece.

All of my works are carefully wrapped with layers of bubble sheet post completion and securely preserved in my studio to prevent any sort of unforeseen damages that could incur while having the painting left open. Basically it’s out of utmost respect I have for my hard-work and for the collectors money that they’d invest in my paintings, I want it to be a win-win situation.
